Inspiration

I had been meaning to get inspired in doing a project of my own. I have a stable work pattern, a set weekly pay packet, i have structure!. I could totally incorporate a side project or two.
So i was looking at some epic daft punk concert video footage someone had posted on Facebook, and there was a side link to a guy named Volpin, a graphics designer by profession who had developed a knack for creating impressive replica props as a bit of a hobby.
He had built a replica Thomas Bangalter Helmet (Daft Punk) and it jelled super well with me.

His work was clear, concise, and honest. He has a confident yet humble way of explaining the process as he goes through it. Moreover, i quickly picked up on the merit and respect hed developed for himself online WORLDWIDE for his projects. I want that. Its cool caus im pretty sure hes just some good ol dude doing his hobby and taking a bit of time laying it out online. I like his integrity.Well as a budding designer attempting to steadily flesh out my portfolio, (aside from all the exciting projects, replicas , movie props and designing i already do in my WIN of a job here in Mirimar, Wellington) i figured i could take on the same method of exposure.

To be fair, I'd like to think I've have never really been a person that blogs nor really needs to make my life public. But fleshing and publicizing that portfolio out to the world is different. Its me demonstrating my existence, skill, my process, my dedication to a task. So it was time i started this blog.

Ive decided i want to get a feel for things by ..'going through the same motions not dissimilar to Volpin'. Perhaps a little tooo similar, a completely valid view. I do hope that Volpin understands that i admire his approach, it works for me, and i know if i use it as a loose template for starters ill quickly pick up on my own style and shift away.  So my behaviors are a compliment. Hopefully.

Side note, this is secretly the video that hooked me in, I too enjoy the sneaky beverage or two plus music blaring as i build things.
Beyond Volpin tho, Im suprised at the support networks that exist within these prop forums. Little teams of people all interested in the same thing, but theyl be from alll kinds of age groups, ethnicity's and backgrounds. Quite cool really.

Let me write more tomorrow. Ill put up the progress pics of my Thomas Helmet after work.

quite a wee way to go still..  and now i have a three week bench mark... gooooood luck.
